Crews in Sutherland Springs, Texas have demolished the First Baptist Church where a gunman killed over 26 worshippers in 2017. Despite some families wanting to preserve the memorial, a judge authorized the tear-down, and the church voted last year in favor of demolishing the sanctuary. After the shooting, the interior of the church was painted white, and chairs with the names of the victims were placed there. The community, however, was divided on the fate of the building. The new church was completed about a year and a half after the tragic event.
